"How much will it cost?"

This is by far the most common question I get asked by visitors to the online diary of my travels. It's difficult to answer because everyone travels differently; different destinations, different time periods, different lifestyles, different objectives.

However, budget travellers do share a set of common expenses. Typically they will be staying in hostels or guesthouses and eating as cheaply as possible. So it is possible to calculate theaverage daily cost of living as a typical budget traveller on a country by country basis, and from that an approximate travel budget can be calculated.
